New Year. New Season of Life.

The first day of every year tends to make us feel like we are turning a corner or embarking on a new chapter of our lives. The calendar certainly helps us make a shift in our thinking about the future. We bring the year to a close with a dazzling New Year’s Eve celebration and then we’re certain that something has changed after the clock strikes twelve. Has it? Did you really feel different when you finally woke up on January 1?

The universe is certainly made to give us the anchors of times and seasons and years. In the book of Genesis, God specifically created elements of the universe to help us cope with time, “Then God said, ‘Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years'” (Genesis 1:14 NLT). The manner in which He created the moon and sun and planets and stars impacted the operation of seasons and days and years. Science long ago discovered this to be true. And that means that we mere mortals live within the boundaries of time and space and must order our lives (and our aging) in terms of the years granted to us.

So we’re back to January. It is definitely a new year. The question becomes: What are we going to do with the 365 days in front of us?

And that’s really the purpose of 10000Days.Life — to consider what we’re going to do with our lives in the days ahead.
